I love the New York Times. I love to open my computer every morning and read the news around the nation. After that I go to my favorite comic pages on MyYahoo! OK, so this morning, I start reading and I get to an opinion article b Nicholas Epley called "Rebate Psychology." In this article Epley cites research which proves people won't spend a tax rebate, they'll save it instead. He says we should rename it a 'bonus' because people spend bonuses. Here's my thought, Epley doesn't know my friends. If we had any money, we'd friggin' spend it for goodness sake! I know, pastor's salaries generally fall below the poverty line so we don't have any idea how the other half lives. What I do have ideas about is that rebate will go a long way toward feeding kids in rural America where their parents can't scratch a living out of the ground anymore. It'll go a long way towards new eyeglasses or prescriptions for folks who have been putting off following their doctor's advice because medicare didn't cover what they needed. I don't guess this was Mr. Epley's best opinion piece. Before I was through with the e-New York Times, I got an uplift though: You can rent a room at Our Lady of Guadalupe monastery, just 3-1/2 miles from Phoenix Stadium for the night of the Super Bowl for only $250. There's no curfew and no smoking. Sounds like a wonderful place to rest after your team wins the big game!
